Real
estate refers to property that is immovable such as land,
buildings, houses, etc. Even though there are a number of
investment options available, real estate continues to be
one of the best investments available to the average investor.
Although there is no risk without reward in any investment
scenario; real estate is a very dynamic market where transactions
are taking place every single minute and property prices are
fluctuating all of the time. But, in general, real estate
has offered an excellent return on investment for those who
have made a real estate investment in a market that was growing,
which in turn typically drives up prices for real estate.
Real estate has typically been a good long term investment for many consumer investors as it has helped to generate billons of dollars in value over the last 50-100 years in the United States. It is one of the few investments that can also pay for itself – meaning a down payment can be made on home or office building and rents can be used to offset the monthly mortgage payments and/or in some cases pay in full for the mortgage payment.
